ōka

A documented sound journal of my first trip to Japan on March 2026, accompanied with an 88-paged photo book.

‘ōka (桜花)’ translates from Japanese to mean 'cherry blossoms', a fitting title for the Spring season when the recordings were captured. I lovingly call this album a sound journal, a documentation of my first trip to Japan from the 13th to the 27th of March, 2026.

The album consists of unchronological snapshots in the form of sound collage, highlighting my holiday across Japan from Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka.

If you purchase the album on Bandcamp, you will receive a digital copy of the accompanying 88-page photo book. It includes written blurbs about separate ‘scenes’ from my trip, touching on certain soundscapes and moments throughout the two lengthy compositions.
